Eastern lubber grasshopper - Romalea guttata - beautiful example of warning coloration, the bright color pattern is a warning to predators that the lubber contains toxic substances. The lubber is surely the most distinctive grasshopper species in the southeastern United States, well known both for its size and its unique coloration.
