Mars Forbidden City on Mt Sharp. (Aeolis Mons) I coined the name 5 years ago as NASA refuse to talk about the huge pyramid and other large buildings and ruined structures on show here. The 500 foot tall pyramid dominates the skyline on the lower slopes of Mt Sharp and overlooks Gale Crater with a giant sphinx and multiple ruins and shipwrecks below in the now supposedly dry lakebed. This image proves beyond doubt that Mars was inhabited in this area by an advanced civilization similar to the Egyptians. The view combines multiple images taken with the Mast Camera (Mastcam) on NASA's Curiosity Mars rover on Sept. 25, 2015, during the 1,115th Martian day, or sol, of Curiosity's work on Mars. The images are from Mastcam's right-eye camera, which has a telephoto lens. The view is toward south-southeast.
