This sample is 20 cm across from left to right. Gastropod fossils in the Reynolds Limestone member of the Mississippian Mauch Chunk Formation. Note the cavity fills: Compare the position of fine, gray sediment (original) with white sparry calcite (crystallized during diagenesis). Which way is “geopetal up” for this sample?
