Slab of dolomite/calcite fault-zone cement from Jalama Beach, California. Alternating bands of cement and black oil record episodes of different fluids migrating up the fault zone within the Miocene Monterey Formation. Forms within a complex system of fault-breccia and travertine-like carbonate cement.
