The first place that James Hutton spotted an angular unconformity was this one, on the north coast of Arran near Lochranza, where a little stream percolates across the contact between Dalradian metasedimentary rocks (foliation dipping moderately to the left / south) and overlying Permian red beds (dipping gently seaward to the right / north).
