Sediment collected from the area immediately surrounding the Blue Spring boil. The largest components are weathered out of the surrounding limestone walls. Compare with the finer sediment collected from the end of the swimming run, approximately 1/8 mile away. Note especially the absence of gastropod and ostracod shells: the water immediately around the boil doesn't hold sufficient oxygen or nutrients to support much life. https://viewer.gigamacro.com/view/XUEVhDwJCNTBg3rJ Collected under Florida Park Service permit number 07022113.
