This exposure of Cambrian Antietam Quartzite is along the Norfolk Southern Railroad west of Linden, Virginia. This unit is a very clean quartzite with little to no impurities. Stratigraphically, the Antietam Formation is the top of the Blue Ridge Anticlinorium. This exposure is on the western flank of the anticlinorium. View of camera is looking roughly northwest.
