Falls Reservoir Dam is part of the Yadkin River Project in North Carolina. The Dam is set in Meta-Rhyodacite near Falls Mountain. The Dam is located a couple miles upstream of the Uwharrie and Yadkin influence and then becomes the Pee Dee River. Lat 35.393071; Long -80.072159 Morrow Mountain State Park is located where the Yadkin and Uwharrie rivers meet to form the Pee Dee River just east of Albemarle. The Native Americans made use of the mountain for quarrying the rock called meta-rhyodacite which was used for making arrowheads and spear points. They once had an encampment where the river-side parking lot is now. Upstream from the park are dams that form Badin Lake and downstream is a dam that forms Lake Tillery.Meta-rhyodacite, as it is termed at Morrow Mountain state park, is a slightly metamorphosed mixture of rhyolite and dacite. The feldspar inclusions in the material make it unsuitable for tool making (Stewart & Roberson, 2007). https://geonames.usgs.gov/apex/f?p=gnispq:3:0::NO::P3_FID:1017188
