Volcanic breccia from Gallatin Range, Montana. This rock formed due to a protracted series of volcanic mudflows (lahars) that blanketed this region (southern Montana and northwestern Wyoming) during the Eocence. Similar rocks can be seen in the Lamar Valley of Yellowstone National Park, in the Tom Miner Basin near Gardiner / Paradise Valley, and near the Shoshone Reservoir, west of Cody, Wyoming.
