Rusted, non folded, quartz with possible gold deposits. It is the second generation of quartz found along the Billy Goat Trail. The first generation is folded due to mountain building. This specific outcrop of quartz is located along the C&O Canal in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park near Great Falls in Montgomery County, Maryland.
