This is the eastern limb of the Blue Ridge Anticlinorium, where Cambrian-aged quartzites of the Weverton Formation dip moderately east. Bedding (visible as dark bands of heavy minerals) is cut across by steeply-dipping quartz veins and at least two joint sets, stained by iron oxides.
