Well-Exposed Megabreccias in Nili Fossae Captured from an altitude of 280 kilometers on July 27, 2026, this high-resolution swath focuses on the geologically rich terrain of Nili Fossae. Nili Fossae serves as a window into the earliest history of Mars (the Noachian Era). By targeting these exposed megabreccia units in stereo, scientists can reconstruct the 3D geometry of the ancient crust and map the subsurface hydrothermal environments created during massive impact events.
