On the west side of the Casper Arch (a Laramide uplift that is less profound than neighbors like the Wind River Mountains or the Bighorns), the Eocene Wind River Formation (mudstones, claystones, and some channel sands) is exposed. For some reason, unlike the surrounding terrain, it's weathered into a neat llittle example of "badlands" topography with hoodoos and small caves. Part of the movie "Starship Troopers" was filmed here. Colors: White = siltier, coarser Red = finer mudstones Darker brown, resistant = sandstone (forms caprock for hoodoos)
