Arthrophycus sp. ichnofossils shown as sinuous and criss-crossing burrows, parallel to bedding, on a nearly vertical bedding plane of the Massanutten Sandstone. Arthrophycus sp. remain enigmatic with regard to their origin/formation, but are sometimes interpreted as detrital feeding structures. Photo taken along Woodstock Tower Road fire tower trail parking area. The area is a popular place to launch onto ridgetop hikes in several directions and to climb the famous Woodstock Fire Tower.
