Cristo Rey is a 47 million year old laccolith that straddles the state boundaries of Texas, New Mexico, and the State of Chihuahua Mexico. The 47 million year old andesitic core of Cristo Rey folded, and in some cases, metamorposed the surrounding upper Cretaceous sediments of the Mesilla Valley Fm., Muleros Fm., Anapra Sandstone, Del Rio Fm., and the Buda Fm.
