The Huckleberry Ridge Tuff crops out at the top of the distant ridge on the south side dipping toward the south. It unconformably overlies Paleozoic sedimentary rocks that dip northward, forming an angular unconformity. The Huckleberry Ridge Tuff was deposited in horizontal sheets just 2.1 million years ago as a result of the first major Yellowstone caldera forming eruption.
